We took our little leprechaun to our friend's church for their annual St.Patty's day breakfast on the Saturday before the 17th. He was a little out of it at first but he warmed up. He actually kept this hat on for most of the morning (thanks for the hat Joanie and Barb).

We've gotten good at reading Deacon's communication with us:
Baa=bottle or book or I'm mad,
DaDa=Paul or look at this thing I'm about to put in my mouth,
Naana=I won't say mom-ma no matter how slowly you guys say it.
And below: this look is his "Seriously?... You get me up, take me out in cold, and put this hat me? And again with the pictures?"

Notice below is his- "What are these things you call pancakes and why am I not getting more?" look.

Maybe you've noticed but there's a presidential election coming up and things are heating up in PA. You know the deal- the voter registration rallies, the phone calls, the campaign visits. We had a guy from the show "Heros" at CMU and have started to get phone calls. (We just give them the phone number of my cousin and his wife in Texas- they're pros at dealing with this by now.)
So, thanks to some friends from Geneva (thanks Jenn and Aleta!) we got tickets to see Barack Obama when he came to our local community college gym.
Deacon did really well with the crowds, metal detectors, and the full stroller search.[Side note- Paul got his first "Can we have the dad take him out of the stroller?" followed by the 'OH, you're the dad' nonverbal moment. First of many I'm sure.]
You see, we didn't want to arrive too early. We figured an hour early would do- big gym- we had tickets. Well, we were settling into our standing spots in the back of gym where we figured Deacon could walk around (next to the press people) when we were offered some open seats. Right- Behind- Obama- above the letters 'n-g-e' on the "Change" banner. See below for our view. The TV lighting made getting good pictures almost impossible but here's one.We did, however, get some TV time- both locally and nationally. Maybe you saw us on C-SPAN? It was on later night... I know you were all watching...being good citizens...instead of doing something else that evening...March 17th. Too bad Kim convinced Paul NOT to bring his rainbow wig and "www.perrinefamily.com" signs. We did see some guy with a 3-16 shirt- he was off by a day.
Found a YouTube video where you can see us over his right shoulder:Here's some shots of Deacon when he fell asleep at dinner. What a cutie. His nap schedule was a bit off. We passed on vacuum cleaning him and put him right to bed (JK-that's not why our vacuum is there) .
