Adoption Update and Miscellaneous Pictures

Tomorrow we will be meeting with an adoption social worker from the Allegheny County Orphan's Court. It's just a routine visit for any family about to make their child's adoption legal. It makes me laugh, however, because we have already had him for almost 10 months and they are
just getting around to check if we are fit to be parents. Basically, the worker will do a mini rerun of what we were put through last year. Tour our house, see how our health is, recheck our references, etc., etc. Just keep us in your prayers tomorrow at 2:oopm as we jump over this final hurdle and raise to the finish line.

The whole process reminds me of this verse from Paul:

Philippians 3:13-14
No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am
focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking
forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and
receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.

This is the miscellaneous picture part.

I am ashamed to say that we just took our Christmas tree on Sunday. I had Paul take a close-up shot of a special ornament we had made for Deacon. It turned out so cute!

These are just some cute pictures of Deacon
wearing his new Old Navy hat.

Video Quality

Sorry about the poor video quality. The actual videos are very clear, so I guess it's time to try another method!

Another Reason to Celebrate

We just received some good news!
Deacon will legally become ours on February 21, 2008!
This will take place at the Orphan's Court in Pittsburgh at 10:00am.
We will be having an Adoption/Birthday
party at the beginning of April to celebrate!

I'm going to take this opportunity to post some video.
The last time I tried (in August), I wasn't successful.
So let's hope this works-enjoy!

This is a video of Deacon learning to self feed himself.
It makes us laugh every time, but don't let the ending scare you.
My apologies for a really annoying voice.

Moving Up the Milestone Ladder

Deacon recently had his 9 month check-up and the new stats are in:

Weight 22# 10 oz.
Height 30 inches
=
ONE BIG KID!!

Honestly, he is so heavy and long (and mutant). He really, really
needs to start walking soon.

The above picture is of Deacon's latest way to show he is excited. This pose started after we bought him a little football. When he would pick it up, we would yell "touchdown" and put our arms up. This "pose" quickly graduated to every activity that got him excited and is now the "hurray" or "yay" pose. In the picture he is excited about the spinach he is eating. Let's hope he will be displaying this excitement for spinach in 4 more years. His bib also points out nicely what spinach makes him do.

Here's Deacon showing off his new teeth.
These pictures show four, but a fifth popped out today.

The Zoo in January

It's hard to believe that it was 69 degrees in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
My friend Joanie and I decided to take advantage of the weather and head to the zoo with the kids.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year !!

Here are some miscellaneous Christmas pics that didn't fit
anywhere else. The first three were taken in front of Deacon's first
Christmas tree. We had lots of new special ornaments this year, including a special adoption ornament.

This is a nice picture of us taken at Grandma's house.

The "littlest" reindeer of them all...

Geneva Res Life Christmas Party

This year the Young East staff decided to dress up as Paul,
which confused poor Deacon.

Even more confusing were the extremely lifelike presents under the tree.

tree with a new angel.
